Roundhouse Entertainment and Mellen Events are pleased to announce Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Songwriters Hall of Fame inductee JACKSON BROWNE will return with his full band to Australia and New Zealand in April 2023 with a very special a day on the green show in Perth at Kings Park & Botanic Garden on Tuesday 11 April, featuring special guests THE WAIFS and HELEN SHANAHAN.
“As he performed a heartfelt ‘These Days’, you could not help but marvel at how a very young man had first written this world-weary meditation. But this veteran of Southern California’s freeways also has no hesitation to rock out … for the show’s penultimate encore, Browne beautifully reclaimed ‘Take It Easy’ as an exuberant call to ‘lighten up while you still can’.”
Billboard
His first live dates here since 2018, JACKSON BROWNE’s forthcoming tour follows the release of his 2021 GRAMMY®-nominated 15th studio album Downhill From Everywhere, the latest work in a multi-platinum career. Hailed as one of the “Greatest Songwriters of All Time” by Rolling Stone and responsible for some of the most literate and moving songs in music history, Browne has sold more than 18 million records in the US alone since his 1972 debut on David Geffen’s Asylum Records 50 years ago.
Tickets go on sale Thursday 25 August (12pm local time) via Ticketmaster, with the a day on the green, AAMI and Mellen members pre-sale beginning Monday 22 August.
With hits such as Running On Empty, These Days, Doctor My Eyes, Somebody’s Baby, The Pretender, The Load Out, co-writer of Eagles’ classic Take It Easy, recent single Minutes To Downtown and many more – Browne’s remarkable, eloquent songwriting is matched by his social justice work. Browne got his start behind the scenes, penning tunes that would be recorded by the likes of Nico, The Byrds, and Tom Rush before launching his own solo career. Known for his advocacy on behalf of the environment, human rights, and arts education, Browne is the co-founder of Musicians United for Safe Energy (MUSE) and Nukefree.org, and a member of Ocean advocacy group Ocean Elders. In 2002, he was the fourth recipient of the John Steinbeck Award, while he has received Duke University’s LEAF award for Lifetime Environmental Achievement in the Fine Arts, and both the Chapin-World Hunger Year and NARM Harry Chapin Humanitarian Awards.

Joining the a day on the green show in Perth are THE WAIFS and HELEN SHANAHAN.
2022 marks 30 years since folk-rockers THE WAIFS formed in Albany, WA. Since then, they have toured the world, winning multiple ARIA Awards and scoring platinum albums along the way. A unique chemistry and profound depth of songwriting talent has bound the 3 original members – Donna Simpson, Vikki Thorn and Josh Cunningham. Their abundant choruses, intoxicating instrumentals, lush and joyful harmonies, enchanting live shows and affable natures have won them many loyal fans and in 2017 they celebrated their number 1 ARIA album, Ironbark. THE WAIFS’ potent, classic singalong hits, including London Still, Lighthouse and Bridal Train, burst with nostalgia and memories that they’ve collected through 3 decades on the road together.
Perth singer-songwriter HELEN SHANAHAN released her second album, Canvas, in 2022. Rhythms magazine described it as “dazzling”, while STACK magazine called it “poetic and damn near perfect”. Helen’s songs ride the joys and sorrows of love and life and draw the listener into an articulate and heartfelt world of story, melody and guitar, through her eyes. Helen graduated from the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA), majoring in voice, and she released her debut album, Every Little Sting, in 2017. Helen’s regular gig showcasing songwriters, The Songwriters Café at Fremantle’s Moore & Moore Café, has become a much-loved part of the local live scene.
Celebrating his first new album in seven years alongside his legendary catalogue, JACKSON BROWNE live on stage is not to be missed.
Tickets on sale Thursday 25 August at 12pm local time from Ticketmaster.
