Roundhouse Entertainment, in conjunction with Frontier Touring, Chugg Entertainment and Laneway Presents, are thrilled to announce FLORENCE + THE MACHINE will bring their global Dance Fever tour to a day on the green at Queensland’s Sirromet Wines, Mount Cotton on Saturday 18 March.
Internationally acclaimed, genre-defying, multi award-winning FLORENCE + THE MACHINE, fronted by enigmatic singer Florence Welch, are returning to Australia for the first time in four years. This a day on the green show has been added to an extensive Australian and New Zealand tour announced earlier this year.
American singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist KING PRINCESS will join FLORENCE + THE MACHINE at Sirromet Wines, as well as Brisbane indie-rockers LAST DINOSAURS and singer-songwriter HATCHIE.
Tickets go on sale Thursday 3 November at 2.00pm local time (3.00pm AEDT) via Ticketmaster, with the a day on the green and AAMI members pre-sale beginning Monday 31 October.
FLORENCE + THE MACHINE last toured Australia and New Zealand in 2019 to much acclaim, wowing audiences with breathtaking vocals, spellbinding choreography and moments of aural captivation that can only be experienced live.
Speaking of the band’s affinity with Australian crowds, in particular a day on the green in Geelong, Florence said: "It was really special. Geelong was crazy – there were just so many people. I couldn't believe it. I was really moved by it. It was a really beautiful thing. There were people as far as I could see, it [Geelong] kind of had a Woodstock feeling to it – it was outdoors and it was a really incredible show.”
Touring in support of FLORENCE + THE MACHINE’s fifth studio album Dance Fever – released in May via Universal Music and debuting at number 2 on the ARIA Album Chart – described by Rolling Stone as “an ecstatic prayer for post-pandemic redemption”, and featuring the singles My Love, King, Heaven Is Here and Free.
A surprise new live album followed with Dance Fever (Live at Madison Square Garden) released earlier this month. Recorded at their 2 sold out Madison Square Garden shows in September, the album features new songs as well as all the classics.
Florence said: “To get out to perform these songs has been the most extraordinary experience. The connection with the audience and the catharsis is at a level I have never experienced before. Maybe it’s because we all missed it so much. But people are bringing so much of themselves to these shows, I wanted to have a memory of Dance Fever live.
Australia was one of the first countries outside the UK to adopt FLORENCE + THE MACHINE, landing a spot on the line-up at 2010’s Laneway Festival. With a huge fan base down under, the band has sold more than one million albums in Australia (17 million globally), boasting 412 million Australian streams (10.2 billion globally) and more than 12.5 million monthly Spotify listeners. The band’s debut album Lungs (2009) peaked at number 3 on the ARIA Album Chart, while their sophomore release Ceremonials (2011) took the number 1 spot. Four years later they returned to the top of the album charts with How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful (2015) and High As Hope (2018) securing the number 2 spot. Early favourites You’ve Got The Love, Dog Days Are Over and Never Let Me Go are all certified 6x ARIA Platinum.
‘There’s a certain sense of pomp and grandeur to the Florence + The Machine live experience that you expect – string sections, wild dancing, beautiful costumes – her music lends itself to such presentation.’
Double J
‘Powerful singalongs and one of the most mesmerising performances you’ll find anywhere.’
Tone Deaf
‘She was a sight to behold, and seemingly effortlessly continued to hold the audience in the palm of her proverbial hand for the remainder of the night.’
Ambient Light
Supporting FLORENCE + THE MACHINE is American singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist KING PRINCESS (aka Mikaela Straus), who will perform at all of the Australian and New Zealand shows. Her 2018 debut EP, Make My Bed, debuted at number 1 in the Official New Zealand Music Chart. The EP’s first single, 1950, peaked at number 25 on the ARIA Charts and is certified 2x ARIA Platinum, while the second release, Talia, is certified ARIA Gold. In 2019 KING PRINCESS released her debut studio album Cheap Queen featuring the title track and Prophet. Her latest album, Hold On Baby, was released in July, featuring standout tracks Little Bother and For My Friends.
Indie-rock trio LAST DINOSAURS are celebrating the release of their fourth studio album From Mexico With Love, featuring the sparkling pop gem Put Up With The Weather. Hailing from Brisbane, their energetic sound resonates with fans all over the world. They have played sold out shows around the world, as well as festivals including Splendour In The Grass, Laneway, Falls Festival and Field Day. With a sound that harks back to the rhythmic 2000s, the band gained huge attention in 2012 with the release of their critically acclaimed first album In A Million Years, debuting at number 8 on the ARIA Album Chart, described by AU Review as “the catchiest songs you’ll hear this side of 2000”, calling the record, “a strong contender for the best Australian album of the past twenty years!”
Brisbane dream-pop artist HATCHIE makes a welcome return to a day on the green. Releasing her second album Giving The World Away in April, the record saw the musician dip into moody pop territory, while pushing boundaries of her signature shoegaze meets dream-pop sound. Featuring vibrant and dynamic singles Quicksand and Lights On, STACK magazine proclaimed; “This album shows that Hatchie is the real deal. And like all great pop music, it manages to sound both nostalgic and right now.” While Brooklyn Vegan called it, “A shimmery dream-pop confection”.
Don’t miss FLORENCE + THE MACHINE – with special guests KING PRINCESS, LAST DINOSAURS and HATCHIE – at a day on the green at Sirromet Wines, Mount Cotton when they return in 2023 with their most ceremonious live shows yet.
Tickets go on sale Thursday 3 November at 2.00pm local time from Ticketmaster.
