NEIL YOUNG - BIMBADGEN WINERY SUPPORTS ANNOUNCED
22nd February, 2013
NEIL YOUNG AND CRAZY HORSE
THE DRONES & HUSKY ANNOUNCED AS SUPPORTS
Bimbadgen Winery, Hunter Valley - Saturday March 9
The buzz surrounding Neil Young and Crazy Horse's Australian and New Zealand tour continues, as The Frontier Touring Company and a day on the green are delighted to reveal the line up of supports for the concerts kicking off next week in Perth.
In the Hunter Valley, a day on the green is pleased to present Melbourne's revered experimental rock ensemble The Drones.
The Drones ingenuity and grace won them the inaugural Australian Music Prize in 2005 with their breakthrough album Wait Long By The River and Your Enemies Will Float By.
The band are previous recipients of the Best Independent Album Of The Year and Independent Artist Of The Year at the 2009 AIR (Aust Independent Record Labels Association) awards, the Best Live Act at the 2010 Rolling Stone Awards and are well-loved at festivals such as Meredith, Falls and St Jerome's Laneway.
The anticipation is already building on their latest release I See Seaweed (out on March 1) which uses broad strokes to engage a diverse range of themes with their trademark contrast of bombastic guitar sounds and foreboding melody.
Four-piece Melbourne band Husky will open all concerts on Neil Young's national tour. After winning the Triple J Unearthed competition, the band released their debut LP Forever So (Liberation Music) in 2011 with songs that managed to be both understated and emotionally stirring. Their European and American tour quickly carved a name for them on the international indie folk scene and garnered rave reviews along the way:
"Nick Drake-esque fairytale delivered with full indie orchestration" (Rolling Stone) and "Possessing maturity far beyond the size of their discography, it is the live delivery and camaraderie of Husky that sets them apart from other local bands of a similar ilk." Tone Deaf
Both The Drones and Husky are Australian bands of the highest order and will provide a perfect musical accompaniment to the legendary Neil Young and Crazy Horse.
The upcoming tour will be the Neil Young and Crazy Horse's first since 2003. With a limited amount of tickets still available and the exciting addition of these supports, the concert will definitely sell out soon.
