BERNARD FANNING
9th October, 2013Tour starts soon for a day on the green!
With The Cruel Sea, Sarah Blasko & Bob Evans
Summer is approaching and that means it’s a day on the green time!
The event’s 13th season kicks off later this month with celebrated songsmith Bernard Fanning making his a day on the green debut with six shows around the country. Add special guests The Cruel Sea, Sarah Blasko and Bob Evans to the mix and you have one all-round stellar line-up.
The tour kicks off on Saturday October 26 at Robert Oatley Vineyards, Mudgee NSW. The Perth Kings Park concert is sold out, with final tickets now released for all remaining shows.
With his ‘Departures’ tour leaving a trail of rave reviews and repeat sell-outs across the country, Bernard hit back with ‘Grow Around You’ - the third single lifted from his certified Gold, #1 ARIA charting new album. It offers a change of pace to its predecessors, replacing voltage and beefed up guitar solos with an honest lyric that is all at once heartfelt and sincere.
The much-loved, multi-awarded singer-songwriter will bring songs from both ‘Departures’ and his acclaimed solo debut ‘Tea & Sympathy’ to the stage, where he will no doubt remind audiences yet again why he is one of Australia’s finest and most popular live performers.
The Cruel Sea celebrate their part in the a day on the green tour with the release of a box set to mark the 20th anniversary of their multi-ARIA award-winning game-changer ‘The Honeymoon Is Over’. Featuring the albums ‘This Is Not The Way Home’, ‘The Honeymoon is Over’, ‘Three-Legged Dog’, ‘Over Easy’ and ‘Where There's Smoke’, the limited edition box set is released on October 25 (Universal). Cruel Sea live performances are sporadic these days, so the upcoming tour and the box set will be music to the ears of fans.
The enchanting Sarah Blasko’s star continues to rise internationally in the wake of her much-lauded fourth album “I Awake”. These will be Sarah’s final performances in Australia this year as she returns to the UK and Europe for further touring through November & December.
Bob Evans, the charming alter-ego of Jebediah frontman Kevin Mitchell, turned troubadour the past few months driving himself around regional areas performing solo concerts to promote his current album ‘Familiar Stranger’. Those not entirely familiar with very lovable Bob, should check out the gorgeous new career trailer on bobevans.com.au.
Joining the bill in Adelaide and Perth are surf roots rockers Band of Frequencies. The band has played with Donovan Frankenreiter, Ash Grunwald and John Butler Trio and at major surfing events around the world. Their feel-good roots-blues-funk sound, anchored with a strong environmental conscience, will be the perfect start to the day.
Singer songwriter Whitley ended a three-year sabbatical with the acclaimed ‘Even The Stars Are A Mess’ album earlier this year and as part of his national tour will open four of the a day on the green shows.
“I'm really looking forward to these a day on the green shows,” Fanning said. “I have been hearing about them for years and am glad to be playing my new songs in such a dignified setting. And I'm looking forward to a couple of vinos with Bob Evans, Sarah Blasko and The Cruel Sea.”
