Mitchelton Wines To Host November 2014 Concert

The national concert series a day on the green is pleased to welcome a new winery venue to its national schedule announcing an expansion into the beautiful Goulburn Valley, Victoria.  

Mitchelton Wines will host the very first a day on the green event in the region in November this year.  The concert line-up and full details will be announced soon.   

Since commencing in 2001, a day on the green has presented almost 350 shows around Australia with international and local artists, and more than two million happy patrons later, the experience of good food, good wine and great music is undoubtedly established as one of Australia’s most popular outdoor events.  In Victoria, concerts are presented in the Yarra Valley, Geelong and Rutherglen.

Melbourne-based Roundhouse Entertainment, promoters of a day on the green, has been working with the Ryan family, who acquired the property in 2011, for many months and today’s announcement is sure to be warmly received by music fans, as well as local business.

A major criterion for wineries hosting a day on the green is a spectacular location and Mitchelton Wines certainly has that.  An easy 90-minute drive north of Melbourne, the concert site overlooks the Goulburn River and surrounding bushland.  Mitchelton’s winery and spectacular cellar door complex, designed by renowned Australian architect Robin Boyd and complete with 55 metre tower, was officially opened in 1973 and in the years since, Mitchelton has developed a reputation for consistently high quality table wines.   

The Ryan family are keen to redevelop the vineyard to an iconic food, wine and hospitality destination – highlighted now with the addition of a day on the green events.

Roundhouse Entertainment Director Michael Newton said: “Despite many enquiries, it’s not very often that we add a new winery to the a day on the green calendar. We have very high standards of what is required in a location for our shows and without question, Mitchelton Wines delivers on all fronts. 

“Nagambie and surrounds is a beautiful environment, with a burgeoning wine and food industry producing quality product.  We have visited the area several times and feel it is a perfect home for our event. We look forward to spending more time with the local community and presenting our first concert in November.”
