GANGgajang

The name GANGgajang came from a play on the onomatopoeic sound of a guitar being strummed -'gajang', and the idea of a band being a collective of creative individuals- a GANG.
GANGgajang was formed in 1984 when Mark Callaghan, previously of The Riptides, and Buzz Bidstrup and Chris Bailey formerly of The Angels, were commissioned to write songs for the ABC TV program Sweet & Sour.
Some of the songs made it to the show but the rest became a debut album with sales in excess of 120,000 with the hit singles Gimme Some Lovin, House of Cards, Giver of Life and the classic Sounds of Then (This is Australia)
Over the next few years, the band members diversified to complete some personal projects. 2007 sees GANGgajang on a new roll. Recently the Gang performed in Sydney and Brisbane to raise money for The Jimmy Little Foundation and Diabetes Australia, and appeared in Melbourne for the World Aids Day Concert in Federation Square, Melbourne.
As the band members are always busy with personal projects, it's a rare occasion now when they perform together - but it's always good fun and great music featuring the old hits and new.
